St. James, Puerto Rico, Romania, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy

Truly Universal!!, Like the branding of an International Corporation, the list of Brethren from around the world that assembled at Mark Masons' Hall, St. James was a sight to behold.

Friday 23rd January saw members of Universal Council No. 286 gather in the Hong Kong temple to welcome 9 new Brethren into the order. The meeting opened and the ceremony of St. Lawrence superbly conducted by the Worshipful Master RW Bro. Brian Sarre and assisted by his officers saw Bro. Javier Jerez-Lopez, from Puerto Rico as the representative candidate plus 8 other Brethren received into the Order.

But that was only the first course ...

The Council then opened into The Grand Tilers of Solomon to conduct the ceremony for 20 (yes 20!) Brethren, with Martin Tellekamp-Booland from the Netherlands being the lucky representative candidate. Once again all conducted to a high standard by the WM and his team, with Bro. John Palmer delivering the Lecture.

Meeting closed, what felt like an assembly at the United Nations, the Brethren made their way to the Euston room for an excellent festive board. At the conclusion the WM toasted to their next merry meeting and wished all the Brethren a safe return home.

W. Bro. John Waggott

It is with enormous and deep regret that we inform you that W Bro John L. Waggott passed to the Grand Council above on Thursday 18th November 2025. John was an experienced Freemason, who provided quiet but extremely wise counsel, when called upon. He was a member of Londinium Council No.47 and was part of this District's Secretariat, assisting with various tasks, which he dealt with meticulously.

Our thoughts are with Helen, and his children (his 'Wagglett's) at this extremely difficult time.

John was always great company and was a truly outstanding Freemason, but he was an even better man. He lived respected, and died regretted.
