Greetings one and all.
Well, this message is a difficult one for me; there is good news and, for me, some sad news. The sad news is that I shall be standing down as District Grand Prefect for London, which will take place on the date of the next Grand Council meeting (28 October). The good news, again for me, is that the Grand Master has offered me the position of Deputy Grand Master which I have accepted. This is a huge honour for me and for our District of London. It is one that I am very pleased to take on and play my part to the best of my ability. It is also very humbling but I shall approach the role with determination and enthusiasm.
I cannot put into words how much the past few years as your District Grand Prefect have meant to me; they have been such an absolute pleasure - your friendship, companionship, your loyalty and unending support has been the highlight of my masonic career. We have achieved so much together - the District is strong and thriving, Councils are strong, membership grows, our District Officers are so committed and our reputation is enviable. Indeed, I thank all of the members who have held District Office during my tenure as you have all worked hard and been good company. Thank you for that and I wish you all well in the future. I will not be going far of course and you can be sure that I will pop in to meetings whenever I can!
As for now, the process is that I stand down on the evening before Grand Council and when I am Installed (please attend and support me) then our Deputy DGP – Scott - will become the District Grand Prefect in Charge. He will hold that Office until a new District Grand Prefect is Installed at the regular November District meeting on 15 November, and that person will be announced in due time, after Grand Council, once the Grand Master has made his choice. Best wishes to you all and thank you for the best of times……
Colin
